Your first appointment at My Pure MD is our chance to really get to know you and your health-care needs. At your first appointment, we will do a deep dive into your health and history, perform a pertinent physical exam, provide nutritional guidance and create an individualized treatment plan focused on your health goals and condition, using multiple systems of medicine. The treatment plans are customized and include nutrition recommendations, supplements, medications if needed, mind-body strategies and exercise suggestions as examples. Please understand that this is an extensive visit, and time spent will depend on the complexity of your case.
No referral is required. We welcome anyone to our practice.
For your convenience, we have an online scheduling system. You will be provided with a link and log in details via email. For future reference, the link to our online scheduler can be found on our website.
In order to reserve your new and follow up patient appointments, we require your credit card information on file. Confirmation for your appointment is made up to 3 days in advance of your appointment. You may confirm your appointment by responding to an appointment reminder.
Appointment reminders are sent through emails and text messages. You will receive an email and/or text message periodically beginning 3- 6 days before your appointment.
Once you schedule an initial appointment, we will send you an email with a link to the patient medical portal (Power 2 Patient) along with the login details. Please log in and submit your paperwork at least 72 business hours before your scheduled appointment. Please note that due to the extensive nature of history that is required for an integrative medicine consult, it is very important that you complete this paperwork prior to your initial consult.
Integrative medicine takes an exhaustive look at your whole being, not just one aspect of your health. Because of the extensive nature of Integrative & Functional medicine and limitations of medical insurance, we do not accept any medical insurances.
We use conventional labs and integrative labs. Although we do not accept insurance for visits, we do send conventional blood work to a lab that will file with your insurance company. The costs of integrative labs vary and will be discussed at the time of your visit. We can offer you a claim form to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement for integrative labs.
Depending on the type of test, the samples required are saliva, urine or stool. These tests are completed by the client through easy test kits that are self-administered in the comfort of your own home. Dr. Kirmani may order some blood tests depending on your case.
The results of your lab test(s) will be sent to Dr. Kirmani 2-4 weeks after you mail your specimens to the lab (functional medicine labs). After evaluation, we will contact you to schedule a follow-up appointment to review your results with Dr. Kirmani and she will recommend individualized treatment protocols.
Depending on your particular condition, Dr. Kirmani will recommend lab testing at the time of your initial visit. Your personalized treatment plan will be designed based on the results of these tests. While retesting isn’t required, it is recommended that a patient retest at the 6month mark to measure improvement and adjust treatment protocols if needed. Once patients have achieved their desired health results, we recommend annual testing to ensure your body systems continue functioning at their best.
Dr. Kirmani recommends purchasing medical grade supplements at targeted dosages from companies that have been well researched and work well with the treatment protocols. You’ll be given additional information at the time of your office visit. For supplement refills, please send us a message through your patient portal. You will be able to order certain supplements online through our portal. Supplements will be shipped by the next business day and should arrive within 3-5 business days.
We spend a lot of time with our patients and therefore have a limited number of available appointment slots. Please be courteous and provide at least a 3-business day notice of rescheduling or cancellation. Late cancellations or No Show will result in a 50% charge of your scheduled time.
This helps us ensure that we can meet the needs of all our patients who are waiting to get an appointment.
We accept cash, checks and all major credit cards. We will also accept HSA and FSA account cards (issued by Visa, MC, DSC or AMX) as forms of payment.

Alternative therapies are described as those used instead of conventional medical treatment, whereas the term complementary describes treatments that are used in conjunction with conventional medical treatment. Integrative medicine combines the best practices from conventional, complementary and alternative therapies, resulting in a complete and well-rounded health care model. It is our hope that in the future we will have no further need for these labels, and that these concepts, definitions and approaches will simply be known as “good medicine”.
Functional medicine is a related discipline that uses a focused methodology to find the root causes of illness using a comprehensive history, thorough physical exam, and advanced diagnostic testing. Genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors all have a direct influence on long-term health and chronic health issues. Using a personalized approach the doctor and patient then collaboratively develop a treatment plan, working in concert with other professionals as needed.
Integrative & Functional medicine are a blend of both conventional medicine and alternative medicine and are meant to coexist with conventional treatment plans. Dr. Kirmani is a board certified Internist with additional training in Functional and Integrative medicine and brings together the best of both worlds.
The Integrative & Functional approach involves applying a rational framework at all times, and presenting treatment options that have been proven safe and effective based upon current research and findings. Dr. Kirmani will strive to use natural and less invasive therapies whenever possible, while at the same time ensuring that important and proven conventional treatments are not overlooked.
We recommend that you send a secure message through your patient portal. Emails/messages for simple straightforward questions requiring a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ reply, there will be no charge. However, emails/messages that require changes to your existing plan, new prescriptions or complex decision making – there will be a charge of $35.
Messages will be replied within 24 to 72 hours. Questions that require immediate attention, please contact your primary care physician or go to the nearest emergency room.
